In short
- You keep your copyright. You can publish elsewhere too – nothing here is exclusive.
- Your share of every sale, gift and advert is shown in your Publishing Center before you publish, and on each item in your wallet.
- Earnings wait 7 days (the refund window), then become Available to withdraw (minimum ₦5,000).
- Readers who bought your book keep it, even if you later unpublish it.
- Only publish what you have the right to publish.
01This agreement
This Author Agreement adds to our Terms of Service and applies when you publish a book or read on Owiwi Reads, receive earnings, or pay for a promotion campaign. “Your work” means the books, reads, covers and descriptions you publish. Where the two documents differ on publishing or earnings, this one applies.
02Your rights and the permission you give us
You keep all copyright and other rights in your work. You give DARK LTD a worldwide, non-exclusive licence, for as long as your work is published on Owiwi Reads, to:
- store, format and convert it so it can be read on the web and in our apps;
- sell it (or offer it free, if you choose) and deliver it to readers;
- show its cover, description, a free preview and short extracts, and use them to promote your work and Owiwi Reads;
- show adverts in it if you publish it free.
Because readers buy books to keep, the licence continues for copies already sold after you unpublish, so those readers can keep reading.
03What you promise
- The work is yours, or you have permission (a written licence) to publish it, or it is genuinely in the public domain in Nigeria and the countries where it will be sold.
- It does not copy anyone else’s work, break anyone’s rights, or break our Content Guidelines or the law.
