In short
- Publish your own work (or work you have the rights to), described honestly.
- Difficult themes are welcome when handled with purpose – label mature content clearly.
- Never: sexual content involving minors, hate, threats, scams, or stolen work.
- Reviews must be honest and your own.
01What we love to see
Fiction and non-fiction of every kind: novels, short stories, poetry, folklore, history, faith, business, children’s books, tutorials and essays – in English and in African and other languages. Write about real life, including war, grief, crime, faith, politics and love. Strong themes are fine when they serve the story.
02Never allowed
- Any sexual content involving anyone under 18, or anything that sexualises children. We remove it and report it to the authorities.
- Pornography – content whose main purpose is sexual arousal.
- Content that promotes violence or terrorism, threatens people, or gives instructions for serious harm (for example making weapons).
- Hate: attacking or demeaning people because of ethnicity, tribe, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender or similar.
- Harassment, bullying, or sharing someone’s private information without permission.
- Content that encourages self-harm or suicide (writing honestly about these experiences is allowed).
- Scams, fraud, pyramid schemes, or medical and financial claims that could cause real harm.
- Anything that breaks the law in Nigeria or where it is sold.
03Mature themes
Books with strong violence, sexual themes between adults, or disturbing subjects are allowed when they are not pornographic. Say so clearly at the start of your description (for example “Contains scenes of violence”), choose a fitting genre, and keep covers suitable for a general audience.
