01Who is responsible for your data
DARK LTD, Nigeria, runs Owiwi Reads and is the data controller for the personal data described here. For anything about privacy, contact us at support@owiwireads.com.
We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and, for people in the United Kingdom and European Union, the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation.
02What we collect
Information you give us
- Account: your name, email address, @username, password (stored only as a secure scrambled “hash”), and optionally a photo, short bio and country.
- Sign-in with Google, Apple or Facebook: your name, email address and an account identifier from that service. We never receive your password for those services.
- Writing and community: books, reads, covers, reviews, replies, gift messages and anything else you publish.
- Payouts (writers and associates): the bank, mobile-money or PayPal details you add so we can pay you, and any information a payment provider needs to check them.
- Messages to us: what you write when you contact support.
Information created as you use Owiwi Reads
- Purchases and earnings: what you bought, gifted or earned, amounts, dates and references. Payment providers tell us whether a payment succeeded – not your card number.
- Reading: your library, where you stopped in each book, reading time (used for rewards), follows, points and levels.
- Devices and logs: your IP address, browser or device type, and – in our app – a device identifier and a notification token. From the IP address we work out your approximate country (never your exact location).
